Are you fed up paying monthly for a Gardner, Caretaker or maid service that only ever shows up a few days before you do? We were! Now we have moved to Spain permanently we offer a small number of clients an exclusive service.

We will visit as agreed. Tidy gardens, check watering systems, clean pools, collect mail and more. We can clean the house and arrange change overs. Minor repairs or redecoration. Why us? We have owned a property in La Nucia for 8 years and relied on ‘professionals’ to keep our budding garden weed free and watered whilst we turned the builders pile into a garden.. It became apparent that the gardener only turned up the week before we did and cut back the weeds. We would find piles of still green foliage in the rubbish corner, and prince charming weeping on our doorstep.

Whilst we never formally let our house, friends would borrow it, we always asked for a report on how the place looked and they never met the Gardener, and there were always waist high weeds. As the garden grew and we added a pool we tried other companies. A monthly house clean resulted in a swift dust around a few days before the house was occupied, the alarm system keeps a log of entry and exit times and dates.

The system at the time allowed for 6 differing numbers, so the maid service had a unique number. One visit in 6 months lasting 30 minutes, no wonder the place smelled when the drains had dried out allowing the smell into the fabric. A family member having taken some overdue leave and flying out found the pool black with slime, the dis-colouration now almost impossible to remove from the grouting.

Having spoken to friends and neighbours we discovered our experiences were far from unique. So we have decided to offer a service people could rely on. Our system of regular reports will give you peace of mind that your property is in safe hands. We also have no objections to a log being maintained of our visits.

Who are we? Mick and Gerri. ( No! not that mick and Jerri)

Mick was a fire officer for 26 years retiring in 1997, In 1985 we started and ran a Locksmiths ‘Lock Doktor’ in Slough, closing this in July 2002 to move to Spain. Some of our customer included Windsor Castle, Cellnet UK Head office, Mars, Slough Estates, Local authorities and we were registered emergency contractors for Thames Valley Police Mick was chairman of the Master Locksmiths association for 4 years and the first Managing director of Sold Secure, a Home office, Police and insurance test facility.

Gerri worked for years in the Local Postal sorting office, working with High Value mail. During the children’s early years she worked for a number of clients in garden design and landscaping, this fitting in nicely with school hours. Then running the Locksmiths full time.

We are able to provide first class references as to our honesty, reliability and skills. We have basic Spanish and this improves monthly

Available by the week, month or an open period. So even if you are just going on holiday and need someone to water the garden, feed cats or birds we can do it.

 

Garden:

Tidy - remove wind borne debris, clear dead foliage sweep as required

Weed – check all areas and remove unwanted plants and dispose

Check watering systems work, that there are no leaks, supplement watering when very hot

Prune plants in the correct manner at the correct time.

Pool – either clean and check chemicals or report on pool cleaners visits

Pressure wash patio’s and solid areas

Treat wooden garden furniture to prevent drying out and rot

House

Read meters and make sure there is no excessive use when the house is empty, thus avoiding massive water bills from ‘Leaks’

Remove mail from box or collect from mail box sort and advise or forward as required.

Clean house before first use in the spring and arrange change overs, check for damage and losses and report.

answer any guests questions.

Clean between lettings change bedding and wash soiled (in your machine), do basic ‘welcome’ shopping if required.

Be available for minor emergencies during lettings

Minor repairs and other work as agreed.

Caretaking

Hold keys securely in our UK rated burglar resistant safe. Whilst working keep the keys in a secure container in our alarmed vehicle. When available attend alarm calls and take action to re-secure the property, have the alarm fixed if faulty.

If required arrange for local contractors to provide quotes for work

Meet contractors and supervise if required, re-arrange the appointment when they fail to turn up, try and tie them down to an actual day and time and the actual week.

 

Either Weekly , Monthly or quarterly forward written report by e-mail to include digital pictures of garden where required.

Report to include meter readings, list of mail and if required details of service bills. Details of surrounding properties and any work that may affect your property.

State of your property and any minor defects requiring attention, detail of any damage sustained by storms.

If you do not have e-mail we will post a report.

Pay either in pound to our UK BUSINESS account or locally in Euro’s. Get a proper receipt for your money to offset against your local taxes.
